Baronial Arts & Sciences

Madrone is known worldwide for its talented populace.  Our annual Arts and Sciences event allows us to showcase them as we select Champions in the Arts and Sciences.
The Barony of Madrone invites you to join us for a day of Arts & Sciences enjoyment & competitions!
 
Come see what your friends and neighbors have been up to all winter;  enjoy a "Laurels' Road Show";  play games throughout the day;  and feast & dance into the evening.
 
We ask you to bring your projects (completed & in progress) to display and share.
 
We will choose our next Baronial Arts & Sciences Champion from those in attendance who wish to compete.
 
A&S Championship Guidelines:
  Gentles who wish to compete to serve Their Excellencies Madrone as Their Champion should send a Letter of Intent for the Madrone Baronial Championship to their Excellencies, Cire and Elisabeth, Baron and Baroness of Madrone, no later than February 4th.
 
  Competitors for Champion must display two (2) or more entries.

  If you have a culinary display or entry, please contact the Event Steward no later than February 8th to confirm use of Kitchen.
 
The wonderful Madrone Culinary Guild will present dinner.
  Send culinary questions to Baroness Bergdis Thorgrimsdotter (Kitchen Head).

Adults: $10 (18 and up) ($5 non-member surcharge)

The site OPENS at 10:00 AM and CLOSES at 10:00 PM.
   
Directions to Site:
 
From North: Cross Ballard Bridge Southbound.
Take 1st Right, at end of bridge-deck, onto "W Emerson".
Stay to the Right.
Go through Stop Sign (does not apply to you).
Get in left lane.
Go through two (2) Stop Lights.
Turn Right at "Gilman Ave W".
Road will become "W Government Way".
Turn Left at Stop Sign onto "34th Ave W".
Go 1.4 miles.
Turn Left onto "W McGraw St".
Go 3 blocks.
Church is at corner of "31st Ave W" & "W McGraw St".
   
From South: Make your way to Northbound "Elliott Ave W".
Turn Right onto the "Magnolia Bridge".
Stay to the Right & follow signs to "Magnolia Bridge".
Take 2nd Right onto "28th Ave W".
Turn Left onto "Condon Way W".
Church is at corner of "31st Ave W" & "W McGraw St".

  Lionheart's Tournament

At the annual Lionheart's Tournament, our Martial Champions are chosen in combat. 

It began as a single day event.  Now the festivities span an entire weekend and draw Swordsmen and Archers from throughout the Kingdom.

  Peasant's Revel
  July 7, 2012
The Madrone Culinary Guild hosts an annual Peasants Revel where we get together in the park, dress up like mud-grubbing Peasants and play silly games like Turnip Toss, Wet Rag on a Stick, and Cheese Rolling, followed by a simple Peasant Stew for dinner.

The vision of the Emprise of the Black Lion is to adopt as many attributes as possible from the 1460 treatise by King René of Anjou and incorporate them into an event which is enjoyable for SCA Equestrians, Heavy fighters, and Spectators.

Baronial Banquet
October 13 or 20, 2012

The annual Baronial Banquet is world famous for outstanding medieval cuisine, and is the best event in the Baronial calendar for Court, Pomp and Pageantry.
