  Battle Chess                   Saturday Afternoon

Speed Quintain Tournament with Heralds                                         Saturday Afternoon

Bring your Herald, dress up and show off your skills — This will be part of the Field of Cloth of Gold contests, so both Riders and Heralds are encouraged to arrange to represent a Barony.

Riders and Heralds will line up in two groups at opposite ends of the tilt.  Through their heralds, riders will challenge each other to matches at the Speed Quintain.  The goal of this game is to strike the central target with a lance before your opponent can do so.  This game requires speed, skill, and a well-trained horse.  It is an ideal exercise to train for the Joust, as it involves many of the same skills.

  Courier Challenge                                          Sunday Morning

Find out how effective you and your horse are as a Courier team — Defeat bandits and overcome obstacles on your way to retrieve a message and deliver it to your Captain.  Two courses will be set up to keep things moving quickly.

  Ground Crew Class                                          Saturday Morning
A great way to start getting involved with SCA Equestrian activities —  After an introduction to safety around horses, learn how to set up equipment for some of the most common games, hand off weapons to riders, re-set equipment and keep the activities running smoothly and efficiently for maximum fun and safety.  The best view is from right on the field!

  Non-Martial Contests:
Field Herald Contest          To Be Announced
A list of period names will be provided.  Heralds will compete to properly pronounce these names.
  Iron Needle Competition               Saturday Morning
The participants will arrange themselves into teams.  Each team will have to name itself, and designate which Barony it competes for.  The teams will receive their materials at 10:00 AM on Saturday, and turn in finished products at evening court on Sunday. They may bring their own scissors.  They will be provided with all other materials.  No mechanical processes, such as sewing machines or glue guns, are allowed.  All work must be done onsite.  Finished products must be modeled for the reaction of the populace before judging is complete.
Dessert Potluck on the Eric            Saturday Evening
Madronans are encouraged to bring delicious dessert contributions (single serving portions or larger).  The Potluck will be held on the Erics on Saturday evening, following Court.  Then come and share and socialize at the end of a very busy Saturday.
