§
To be a Champion of Madrone is both an honor and an obligation.
A Champion is expected to participate in Baronial events during the year of
their Championship.
§
A Champion may stand behind the Baron and Baroness at Baronial
Courts. Champions sit in a place of honor at Baronial Banquet and are
expected to attend as many courts as possible.
§
A Champion may carry and display their individual Champion's
banner, and may wear and display their Champion's cloaks at all events they
attend. They will demonstrate their pride in their championship by wearing
these signs on public occasions.
§
A Champion may represent Madrone at non-Madrone events and may carry
and display the Baronial Banner at events, which the
Baron and Baroness do not attend.
§
A Champion will process with the Barony in Grand Processions at
any Crown Tourneys they attend, if this will not conflict with processing as
a tourney entrant.
§
Champions are charged to foster their disciplines throughout their
year of service by the oath they take, and to act as ceremonial envoys of
the Barony.
§
A Champion must teach or organize at least one class or workshop
relevant to their Championship, within the Barony, at some point during
their term.
§
A Champion is expected to attend Baronial Banquet, and events to select other
Baronial Champions. Note: Champions do not receive free entrance
to Baronial events.
§
A Champion must attend the next year's Championship competition,
and organize their part of the competition.
§
A Champion must be willing and able to swear an oath of service to
the Barony. They may, but are not required to swear fealty.
§
If there will be a potential for a conflict in service, loyalty,
or fealty during the Champion’s term, candidates should discuss these issues
with the
Baron and Baroness before the competition begins. Furthermore, a champion should
discuss any later conflicts with the
Baron and Baroness as soon as possible.
§
Previous or current Madrone champions are welcome to enter this
year's competition; Only those gentles who would like to serve as a Madrone
Champion should enter the championship competition. If you do not intend to
serve, please do not enter the champion's events.
