  Baronial Succession

Greetings from King Tiernan & Queen Miranda,

After thoughtful review of the polling comments, our conversations with the candidates, & Our own experiences as Landed Baron & Baroness, We have made Our decision based on what We perceive to be the best choice for the grand Barony of Madrone for the next three years.

Let the news be carried throughout the lands that We, Tiernan & Miranda, Sable Lion & Lioness, welcome Earl Cire & Countess Elisabeth as the next Baron & Baroness of Madrone.  It was quite evident that both are highly skilled & valued by those in Madrone.  Join Us at the Black Lion Emprise for their investiture.

Many thanks to Their Excellencies Ragnarr & Bergdis for shepherding Madrone with care during their tenure.  Thank you to all four sets of candidates for caring enough about Madrone to be willing to participate in this process.

Finally, thank you to all who took time to share with Us your thoughts, concerns, & hopes. We charge you all to continue supporting Madrone through your various endeavors which will, in turn, benefit all of An Tir.

Your King & Queen,
Tiernan & Miranda

Scribal Gathering

  Greetings from your Baronial Scribe:
There will be a gathering of scribes, calligraphers and painters at Master Sean and Nicolette's house in Seattle on Tuesday, September 7th at 7:00 PM  (that's the day right after Crown don't forget about the Monday holiday).  September is a busy month!

The main focus will be on creating new documents for our incoming Baron and Baroness.  There are some smaller projects available for new or aspiring scribes, as well as new charter masters to make, and Kingdom charters to paint for the new reign.

I will also have a copy of the brand-new Charter Handbook by Bronwen, our Kingdom Scribe, which is full of helpful tips and resources.  So, come help your Barony and your Kingdom, there's a lot to do!

I will have charters and the Baronial paint kit, and you are welcome to bring originals or other projects to work on as well.  I am also looking for someone who would be interested in being Deputy Baronial Scribe.

If you or anyone you know wants to learn about being a scribe, this is a great way
to start, and to meet and chat with other scribes.

Thanks to Sean & Nicolette for hosting!

Social Gathering

Greetings Everyone:

There will be a Baronial Social in Room 105 of the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, Thursday, September 16th from 7:009:30 PM

Come join the populace as we socialize, dance, work on projects and discuss upcoming Baronial events.

In preparation of our September Crown Tournament, the Equestrian Guild has offered to have a Banner Painting Workshop. The Crown has made a requirement that all entrants into Crown Tournament and the Equestrian Championship display a banner.

The Guild will provide the cotton banners and paints and brushes, drop clothes and plastic to cover the tables.  (We also try to bring along an artistic type who can help draw the charges.) The workshop usually runs about $15 per banner.

In addition, Master Evrard de Valogne will be continuing his Leather Archery Bracer class. Arm Bracers are a staple of archers, protecting them against the "stripe" of the bowstring loosed.  This class will cover a little history of the bracer, basic leatherworking techniques of cutting, shaping and decorating the bracer.  The cost is $10 and all of the materials (leather, buckles, grommets, dyes, paints and sealants) are provided, including a handout.  Students should be aware that it will take more than this session to complete the bracers.  However, Evrard will be at future Socials to assist completion of the projects.

We will continue with our monthly Renaissance Dance Practice taught by Master Trahearn.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Yours in Service,

Landinn deMarest
