Scribal Gathering

  Greetings from your Baronial Scribe:

Come help your Barony and Kingdom create beautiful documents!

The beautiful documents which are presented with nearly every award given in An Tir are made by hand, by volunteers.  This means that volunteers are needed if you expect a beautiful document to commemorate your next award, or your friend's next award.

If you are interested in a particular aspect of scribery (styles or periods of manuscripts or documents, tools, quill-cutting, paints, gilding, etc.), let me know by Monday - I have resources, books, and materials I can bring.

There will be a gathering of scribes, calligraphers and painters at Master Sean and Nicolette's house in Seattle on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 PM.

I will have baronial and kingdom charters to paint, and the Baronial paint kit, and you are welcome to bring originals or other projects to work on as well.  I also have texts and the design guide for charters for the current reign.  Lots to do!

If you or anyone you know wants to learn about being a scribe, this is a great way
to start, and to meet and chat with other scribes.

Thanks to Sean & Nicolette for hosting!

Culinary Guild Cooking

The Culinary Guild is starting back up our monthly Cooking Nights** on the 4th Thursday of each month.

We like visiting with folks at the social, but it isn’t a very good cooking situation, so we’re going back to a separate night when we can focus on the kitchen…

I volunteered to organize the first one which will be held this Thursday, January 26th at 7:00 PM in Bellevue.  Email me for directions.

We’ll be playing with several Germanic recipes including our tasty Sausages in Pottage, Fladen (sirloin & cheese topped focaccia – it’s almost medieval pizza!) and various other dishes depending on how many folks are cooking.

Please let me know by this Tuesday if you can make it so I know how many recipes to prep and how much food to buy.

I hope lots of folks will be there to help kick this back off and enjoy being back in the kitchen together.

**

Our Cooking Nights are the Guild's hands-on meetings where we actually cook from historical recipes.

Lots of fun & lots of stuff to do for cooks of all levels from absolute beginner "I can barely heat soup" to professional chefs.

We suggest that you have a light snack first since we often don't eat the fruits of our labors till late in the process...  Bring an apron if you want one.
