Culinary Guild

The Potluck and Discussion meeting of the Madrone Culinary Guild is Wednesday, October 1st.  The gathering time is 7:00 PM, we try to start eating at 7:10, and the evening generally winds up a little after 9:00 PM.

Some subjects for discussion:

  • Baronial Banquet 2009

  • Possible Yule Feast

  • Pamphlet Update

If you have any other items that need to go on the agenda, please let me know or bring your ideas with you.  If you can't attend the potluck and discussion meeting but want to comment or have questions on any of the discussion areas above, please e-mail comments or questions to the Guild list.

Please remember to bring your plate, bowl, cutlery and cup and preferred beverage on Wednesday.  People attending their first Guild potluck evening do not need to bring a dish contribution.

Medieval, Renaissance or ethnic food is suitable, but any contribution dish is welcome.  Pull out your copy of Pleyn Delit or a Guild Feudal Gourmet pamphlet and explore!

Best regards,

Etiennette

Charter Painting and Scribal Gathering

Greetings from your Baronial Scribe:

Tuesday, October 7th at 7:00 PM, I will be at Sean & Nicolette's house in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood with paints, brushes, and charters to paint.  Painters and scribes of all skill levels are welcome — really!  This is a great way to learn about calligraphy and illumination, while helping your Barony.

The only thing you need to bring is yourself — I will provide charter blanks, paints and brushes.  Scribes who would like to bring their own materials or work on original projects are also encouraged, and very welcome.

Message from the Baron & Baroness of Madrone

Greetings Madrone:

The Baroness of Madrone is accepting candidates for Madrone Sergeantry

Any gentle interested in becoming a candidate for Madrone Sergeant, Gallant or Yeoman should see the Baroness at September Crown to arrange a time to present a formal application.

The Baron of Madrone is accepting candidates for Madrone Courtier

Any gentle interested in becoming a candidate for Courtier should see the Baron at September Crown to arrange a time to present a formal application.

All potential candidates should speak to the Baron or Baroness before making a formal application, to ensure that the candidates’ idea of Courtiership or Sergeantry is consistent with that of the Baron or Baroness.

Dates for trials have not yet been set, but will be determined based on the candidates who apply.  Courtier candidates will be tested on general and SCA knowledge and skills by the same system used to test Sergeantry candidates.  Tests for the specific specialties of arts or service to be demonstrated by the Courtier candidate will be determined based on what those specialties are.

All candidates will be expected to work with a current or former member of the Madrone Seargentry to help them prepare.  There is a small number of past Madrone Courtiers who may also assist.  Current members of the Madrone Sergeantry are listed on the Madrone Website’s Court page.
